Gellert Grindelwald is already well known to Harry Potter fans, but it appears that we're finally going to see the long-awaited showdown between two of the most powerful wizards that have ever picked up a wand.
In the sequel to Fantastic Beasts, Newt Scamander and Albus Dumbledore will team together to fight Grindelwald.
Warner Bros. have announced plot details for the film and the action will pick up months after the events of Fantastic Beasts with Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) having escaped and “gathering more followers to his cause — elevating wizards above all non-magical beings."
The only one who might be able to stop him is the wizard that he once called his dearest friend, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law)
Dumbledore might be incredibly skilled and gifted, but he's going to need some help from the wizard that had thwarted Grindelwald once before, his former student Newt Scamander.
We're delighted to say that Tina (Katherine Waterston), Queenie (Alison Sudol) and Jacob (Dan Fogler) will all be returning, but Newt's mission will also test their loyalties as his new friends face increasing danger in a divided and volatile wizarding world.
Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling is on screenplay duties for the sequel and you'll be happy to know that David Yates, the man directed the original feature and four other Harry Potter adventures, is back behind the camera as well.
If fans of J.K Rowling's wizarding world weren't excited enough, we're also being promised "some surprising nods to the Harry Potter stories that will delight fans of the books and film series.”
The sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set to debut in theaters Nov. 16, 2018.
