Overwatch - Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC
It's finally here. Long-awaited online shooter Overwatch is finally out this week, following the best beta sessions in years. Made by Blizzard Entertainment's (that's the folks who make World of Warcraft), Overwatch is a finely tuned online team based shooting game similar to Team Fortress 2 and Counterstrike. Just with the fun factor dialled all the way up to 11. Fast, frenetic and with visuals not unlike a Pixar movie, this is the online shooter without all the complicated faff. Brilliantly designed and a joy to play. You'll be playing Overwatch for years.
Homefront: The Revolution — PC, PS4, Xbox One
We've waited a week on the new Homefront game while they sort out their framerate issues, but there's plenty to dig your teeth into in this new first person shooter. Set in a new future Philadelphia ruled by North Korea, Homefront: The Revolution is a bit like the Red Dawn: The Game (the good 1984 one, mind), as you work to free the United States. A more tactical take to the shooting game, this one is best tackled with mates on co-op.
BBTAN - Android, iOS
BBTAN is your new moreish mobile puzzle game. Playing like a throwback to the original arcade games of Breakout (which you can play right here in Google), BBTAN simple twist on the original format is that this time you can aim the ball at where you want to hit it. What should be a small tweak that breaks the format, instead gives BBTAN an alluring amount of depth to its gameplay. Give it a go, it's free right now on the app store. Try and beat the JOE team's high score of 72. Good luck...
One of the best games on the Playstation 3 era, Valkyria Chronicles was cruelly overlooked by many when it was first released in 2008. Don't make that mistake a second time - underneath its gorgeous anime style visuals, lies one of the best tactical role playing games of all time. Valkyria Chronicles is a deep, affecting strategy game with a World War 2 inspired-plot that will stick with you for weeks. Grab it in the PSN store and give it a go.
Another dose of Nathan Drake, so soon after Uncharted 4? Oh how wonderful. A pocket puzzler built to accompany the full fat PS4 game, Fortune Hunter has you solve puzzles and... hunt fortune (obvs) through a raft of tricky levels. Better still, you can link this mobile game to Uncharted 4 to unlock a bunch of multiplayer award. Pretty nifty way to get more Drake in your life.
