The film that genuinely traumatised an entire generation is being remade

Every film fan has a different reaction when they're watching a horror film. For some people, they just can't handle the jump scares, creeping tension and ominous sense of imminent dread. For other people, the sheer sight of a drop of blood would have them running to the nearest therapist but all in all, it's a genre that's bloody brilliant! This being said, there's nothing more that film studios love to hear than stories of people passing out during screenings, or having such a visceral response to a film that they need a priest to cleanse themselves of what they've just seen. Truth be told, I'm always wary of stories that claim the latest horror to be 'shocking', 'revolting', 'too intense to take' etc because they're usually quite tame. Each to their own but I'm extremely confident in saying that there are tens of thousands of people that absolutely hate spiders thanks to one film, Arachnophobia. If you've seen the film then you'll know exactly why. The 1990 horror has become something of a cult-classic due to the inventive nature of its death sequences and the fact that it featured one of the biggest f**k off spiders that you'll ever see in your life. Basement. Nest. You know what we're talking about. Ok, what's it about? Basically, a species of South American killer spider hitches a lift to the U.S. in a coffin and starts to breed and kill. Simple. The film starred Jeff Daniels and John Goodman and it turned out to be a modest commercial success, gaining $53.21 million at the box office, and a reboot has just been announced. Deadline are reporting that James Wan (The Conjuring films) will produce but not direct an Arachnophobia remake. Truth be told, we can 100% see this working because it has been a long time since we've had a genuinely terrifying horror film that features gigantic spiders. Who wouldn't want to see a film that features big, hairy spiders that could kill you in an instant. Actually...
