The first trailer for the second series of House of the Dragon was released late last night and fans are absolutely losing it.
Following the success of the first season prequel to Game of Thrones, HBO have confirmed that a second series will air.
From looking at the trailer there promises to be plenty of dragon warfare as Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower’s forces fight dragon to dragon.
Daemon Targaryen is also seen suiting up in his impressive armour, while there is plenty of knights on horseback, soldiers burning alive and several of the main cast riding their dragons into battle.
"There is no war so hateful to the gods as a war between kin," Rhaenyra says. But also, "And no war so bloody as a war between dragons," her aunt Rhaenys Targaryen reminds her.
The returning cast includes Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Rhys Ifans, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall and Matthew Needham.
Several new faces will also feature, including: Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark, Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew as Hugh, Tom Bennett as Ulf and Vincent Regan as Ser Rickard Thorne.
Taking to X following the release of the trailer, people couldn't believe their eyes.
One person wrote: "Season 2 is going to be a great season. I just hope ppl don’t blast it with negativity because it deviates from the books."
Another wrote: "The trailer alone gave me goosebumps."
A third commented: "The only QUEEN of house of the dragon!"
