Euphoria star Chloe Cherry says past porn career was ‘incredibly toxic’ and ‘so strict’

Chloe said porn was run by 'a bunch of stupid old white men'

Euphoria star Chloe Cherry has spoken out about the porn industry and the toxic effect it had on her body image and how her dad's death may have led her into adult entertainment. The 25-year-old worked as an adult film actress in Miami before being approached by Euphoria’s casting team on Instagram. She later played, Faye, in season two. Cherry told Eileen Kelly’s Going Mental podcast about her earlier working life last month, saying that porn sets were so much "more toxic" for body image than the fashion industry. “I’ve been in both, and in the fashion industry people just allow bodies to be, and I see girls of many different body types on sets and I love it," she explained. “Whereas in porn there was literally one f***ing body you could have, porn was so strict.” Cherry added: “I don’t know why in fashion we understand that people like a lot of different kinds of bodies, but in porn it’s still a certain way.” The HBO star opined that porn was stuck in the past, "because I think all the people that run it are just old… It’s just like every other industry, it’s just run by a bunch of stupid old white men". Cherry said, economically, it made no sense because amateur porn, featuring people with "average bodies", is more popular than professional porn: "Why don’t they take a tip from that and just have normal looking people in it," she asked. Cherry also told the podcast that she might not have become involved in adult entertainment, if her dad had not died when she was seven years old. He died a year after being diagnosed with cancer. “I always thought that if my dad lived that I would have just been normal," Cherry said. "I would have just gone to college like a normal f***ing person and done just some random stupid job and have been some stupid normal person. “Like, I wouldn’t be doing all this if my dad was still around. I wouldn’t be Chloe Cherry if my dad was still around." Cherry added: “I feel like a lot of people who lose a parent around that age, around 10 or so, before you’re an adult at all, it’s really an interesting experience.
