Actor Mark Withers, best known for his portrayal of Ted Dinard in the iconic television series Dynasty, has passed away at the age of 77.
His death was confirmed to Variety by his daughter, Jessie Withers, who revealed her father's cause of death as pancreatic cancer.
New York-born Withers began his on-screen career in 1978 when he appeared in two episodes of the hit Western series How The West Was Won.
Three years later he secured the biggest role of his career - as Ted Dinard in the hit US show Dynsaty. Dinard's death after six episodes was one of the more memorable scenes across the show's nine seasons.
Among Withers' other credits include Wonder Woman; The Greatest American Hero; Magnum, P.I.; The Dukes of Hazzard; Hart to Hart; Remington Steele; Hotel; Dallas; L.A. Law; Matlock; The King of Queens and Frasier.
More recently, he appeared in the much-loved Netflix series Stranger Things, appearing as Coroner Gary in the first season.
Although he only appeared in a single episode of the series, it was a pivotal episode involving the chilling examination of a seemingly dead body.
In a statement published in Variety, Withers' daughter Jessie wrote: "He confronted his illness with the same strength and dignity he brought to his craft, creating a legacy of warmth, humor, and dedication, along with his remarkable ability to make every role unforgettable.
"Mark’s enduring talent and commitment to the industry will be fondly remembered by colleagues, friends, and fans alike," she added.
