The star of stage and screen known for his roles in Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the eponymous Dick Van Dyke Show is already a complete legend of cinema.
A naturally gifted singer with six albums to his name as well as appearances on numerous other soundtracks, he shot to fame after appearing in the musical Bye Bye Birdie, for which he won a Tony Award in 1961, as well as going on to appear in the film adaptation of the smash-hit.
He is also famed for his love of dancing, making him a perfect fit for the world of musicals.
Having been in the entertainment industry for more than 70 years, he continues to appear in movies and TV; younger audiences may recognise him from the likes of the Night at the Museum films, The Middle, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day and even the recent Disney remake, Mary Poppins Returns.
However, at aged 98, it's fair to say that you might not expect him to be breaking new ground.
The legend continues to surprise us all, though, as he was revealed to be nominated for a Daytime Emmy award, making him the oldest person to ever be nominated for the awards.
The nod is for his role as Timothy Robicheaux in Days of Our Lives, for the Guest Performance in a Daytime Drama Series category.
He is up against Linden Ashby for his guest performance in The Young and the Restless, Ashley Jones in The Bold and the Beautiful, Alley Mills in General Hospital and Guy Pearce in Neighbours.
Producer Norman Lear was the oldest nominee at the Primetime Emmys aged 100 when he was nominated back in 2022. He died the following year.
Van Dyke has previously won four Primetime Emmys, with three of those being for The Dick Van Dyke Show.
