DC to make Superman queer in new comic series and fans are thrilled

But will his cape be a rainbow?

Though originally leaked by controversial comic book figure Ethan Van Sciver, reputable DC sources have confirmed that Superman will be queer in his upcoming series. Earlier this month, DC also announced that Robin would be joining the LGBTQ+ community, and now, another character is set to make the jump to fabulous caped hero. Van Sciver is a former DC artist and has since gone on to pioneer the anti-inclusion Comicgate movement. In a live stream on August 19, Sciver said: "SUPERMAN IS GAY! It hasn’t really been announced, except by me. The plan is that… Superman’s book… I guess Clark Kent is going bye-bye.” Clark Kent's departure as Superman was also confirmed by Bleeding Cool, a website often slated as the PR mouth of DC comics. Some sources suggest that Kent will die, while others are saying he will merely 'depart' from his duties as the Man of Steel. The mantle will be taken up by his son Jonathan Kent, who will then have a coming out storyline sometime after. Superman: Son of Kal-El, which launched in July, will follow Jonathan as he attempts to live up to his father's image, presumably while dealing with his own sexuality. "DC Comics is currently intending him to be portrayed as a queer young man, though the exact labels are up in the air. Or up in the sky. Gay, bi, pan, it may be a while till this comes to fruition on the page," said Bleeding Cool.
