Warner Bros. has assured fans that their upcoming stand-alone movie focused on The Flash will still be released as planned despite the multiple controversies surrounding its star Ezra Miller. Just last week, we learned that new president and CEO of Warner Bros. studios, David Zaslav, had decided to bin the upcoming Batgirl movie starring Leslie Grace as the eponymous hero, directed by filmmaking duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. Shot entirely in Glasgow, the movie will now not be released in cinemas or streaming service HBO Max despite costing around $70m to make and co-starring big names including J.K. Simmons and Brendan Fraser. The move led fans of DC's cinematic universe to wonder where that left stand-alone feature film The Flash which was on the cards for a June 23 2023 release date, despite its leading man being embroiled in a number of high-profile scandals in recent months. Zaslav seemingly answered this question during a recent Q2 earnings call that took place last Thursday last week. As per Variety, the studio boss assured that he was "very excited" about the release of the movie. “We have seen The Flash, Black Adam and Shazam 2,” Zaslav is reported to have said according to the movie industry outlet. “We are very excited about them. We’ve seen them. We think they are terrific, and we think we can make them even better.” There did not appear to be any discussion of delaying or shelving the release of the film. The news hasn't stopped headlines from swirling around its star who, in recent weeks, has been accused of leading a cult, wearing body armour and even carrying a weapon with him everywhere he goes. The actor's exact whereabouts are currently unknown. Populating the list of controversies surrounding Miller, 29, are claims that the star allegedly abused and groomed a young girl. These accusations follow two arrests in Hawaii following assault and disorderly conduct at a karaoke bar. The Flash will also feature an appearance from Michael Keaton's Bruce Wayne, marking the first time his take on the character has appeared on screen since Tim Burton's gothic 1992 sequel Batman Returns. It was also believed that Keaton's Batman was due to pop up in the now-shelved Batgirl film as well as DC's Aquaman sequel The Lost Kingdom. Related links:
