Armie Hammer is set to play the lead role in Uwe Boll's upcoming thriller The Dark Knight.
Despite sharing a title with Christopher Nolan's 2008 Batman film featuring Christian Bale and Heath Ledger, this new film is unrelated.
The plot does share some similarities with the superhero film.
According to Variety, Hammer will play a character named Sanders who takes justice into his own hands as he hunts down local criminals.
His actions make him a hero among the general public and across social media but a police chief sees him as a menace to society and sets out to take him down.
The 38-year-old's return to acting follows a series of sexual accusations made a few years ago which saw him retreat from the limelight.
Earlier this month, Hammer blamed Covid and kink-shaming for the fallout.
In 2021, direct messages allegedly sent by Hammer were made public detailing graphic sexual desires and cannibalistic fetishism.
Several women later accused the actor of sexual assault and subsequently accused of rape and abuse by ex-girlfriend Effie Angelova.
He died criminal wrongdoing and said that all of his relationships were consensual.
In May 2023, the LA County District Attorney’s Office announced it would not file sexual assault charges, citing “insufficient evidence” and the “complexity of the relationship”.
Since then he has been hit with financial struggles, admitting he sold his truck because he couldn't afford the petrol.
Speaking on the Your Mom's House podcast, Hammer said: "The world seemed like it was falling apart, and people were just deeply unhappy with their own lives.
