Amber Heard will return as Mera in the upcoming Aquaman sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
Execs at Warner Bros. Discovery admitted that they had considered replacing Heard but plans were never announced.
While testifying during the Depp/Heard trial earlier this year, President of DC Films Walter Hamada revealed that there had been conversations about recasting the role due to an “issue of chemistry” between Heard and Momoa, who plays the role of Aquaman.
And a petition to have her removed from the sequel was signed by more than 4.4 million people.
But, there is now no doubt about it: Heard is starring in the upcoming film.
She was shown as Mera in a trailer for the movie shown during CinemaCon, Insider reports.
She is shown in two quick shots and a battle scene.
Although Heard will be appearing in the film, it remains to be seen just how much of a role she will play.
The trailer appears to suggest that Heard won't have the starring role she did in the first film, where she was very much the main supporting character.
This time round, it seems that Aquaman's half-brother Orm Marius (played by Patrick Wilson) will be the main supporting character.
During her trial with Depp, Heard had claimed that her role in Aquaman 2 was significantly pared down after Depp’s legal team labelled her initial abuse claims a “hoax.”
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom opens in theaters on December 20.

Ever since her highly-publicised and bitter defamation case between her and her ex-husband Johnny Depp, rumours have swirled about whether she would returned as Mera in the superhero sequel, having played the role in the 2018 DC film.

The trial heard from another witness on the stand that Heard was close to being removed from the film due to a lack of chemistry with co-star Jason Momoa. But another witness claimed Momoa and director James Wan were “committed” to Heard and that Momoa was “adamant” she remain in the franchise.
