A brand new, fully-featured, fan-made Pokemon game has just been released

The launch of Pokemon Go has put the famous Japanese franchise back on the map in a way not seen since the late 90s, so it seems like as good a time as any to release Pokemon Uranium - an all-new, entirely fan-made game that has been nine years in the making.

You'll need to collect eight Gym Badges in order to compete in the Tandor Regional Championship. It's a template that anyone who has played the old Game Boy or Nintendo DS games will be familiar with. Mac support isn't up and running at the time of writing, but Polygon reports that it could be on the way. There are naturally a lot of crashing issues at the moment and don't be at all surprised if Nintendo - cuddly as they may be - come steaming at this with a takedown notice sooner rather than later. Grab the game here while you can.
