Ant-Man finally explains why he didn’t employ viral “Thanus” theory to kill Thanos in Endgame

Marvel fans may have finally got a little bit closer to closure on the viral question of why pint-sized hero Ant-Man didn't just shrink down and kill Avengers baddie Thanos in a more... interesting way. Unfamiliar with what we're talking about? Well, let us explain... The popular 'Thanus' theory first originated among fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Reddit back in 2018 and asked why Rudd's Ant-Man Scott Lang - who's famous for his ability to shrink down to the size of an atom or grow larger than a towering building - didn't just make himself tiny, crawl into Thanos' arse and kill Infinity War and End Game's big purple stone stealer by bursting him from the inside. For obvious reasons, this tactic wasn't utilised by Captain America, Iron Man and the rest of the Avengers in what's now the second highest grossing film of all time, Endgame. However that certainly didn't stop people on the internet from wondering why - and now, thanks to a new Disney cruise line experience, Ant-Man himself has chimed in on the conversation. Visitors on an early-access press tour of the Disney Wish cruise were treated to a new video of Rudd in character as Lang alongside Evangeline Lilly as his partner in heroism The Wasp during an interactive experience designed to be enjoyed while guests wait in the ship's dining room. “Hi, I’m Scott Lang,” begins Rudd “but you might know me as Ant-Man. Before we start, let me address the elephant in the room." "I’ve heard a lot of chatter out there asking why I didn’t shrink down, go in, and, uh … kill Thanos in a really creative way. First of all: gross. Secondly, it’s much more complicated than that. "Allow me to explain…” It's at this point that his co-hero, Hope Pym, interjects, saving hungry diners from what's sure to be the last thing they want to hear before they eat. "If only we had the time..." she smiles, before moving the conversation on. However for others, this response has only fuelled the 'Thanus' fires further. "But like they also went back in time," pondered another fan. "And Ant-Man could've covered himself in spikes or something. Or shrunk a ton of explosives and smuggled them in over a long period of time. "I've thought about this." This isn't the first time a bonafide member of the MCU has had some fun with this particular theory.
